San Diego
Unlike other coastal cities in California, San Diego seems to have a laid back vibe, full of people who aren’t trying to hard, we loved that! We also loved the weather, and found out that it stays relatively nice all year round, which really makes it a great place to come for a proposal or just a vacation anytime. Below we have found 10 fun places to propose and visit while in San Diego
1) Rooftop Sunset at Carte
Ocean views, relaxed vibes and your loved one, make this rooftop a perfect place to propose. This is one of the newest and most exciting rooftop lounges in all of San Diego and we loved hanging out up here.

2) Balboa Park
Let’s just say that if you are going for a wow factor and a whimsical, carnival like atmosphere then Balboa park is the perfect proposal destination for you! There are gardens to explore, the amazing San Diego Zoo and all sorts of beautiful buildings to wander. We loved the feel of this massive park and we think your loved one would too.

3) Sunset Cliffs Natural Park
We made it here just after sunrise and the views were simply breathtaking! We loved how you could easily go for a stroll here with a spectacular view and the sound of the ocean crashing against the cliffs below. It’s a super romantic place for a proposal, with lots of coast line to choose from for your perfect spot.

4) Shoreline Park
With the city skyline in full display behind you and the gentle ocean breeze at your face, we thought that the marina park on Shelter Island would be a beautiful spot to propose at! Either take your significant other on a stroll through the park, charter a boat ride or simply sit on the rocks like we did while contemplating life and the future.

5) La Jolla Cove
There is plenty of excitement going on at La Jolla Cove for those who would like a public proposal with lots of spectators and sea lions cheering you on lol! With pelicans in the air, people snorkeling in the water and sea lions and seals basking on the rocks this would be a super high energy place to propose and a great place to go for a walk along the shore.

6) Sun Gold Point
There are only a few parking spots when you pull up but this little spot on the San Diego coast has an intimate feel with a spectacular view! The waves crash against the cliffs in dramatic fashion while you watch a brave surfer or two ride some waves. We thought this would be great place to bring a little picnic while the ocean puts on a show for you.

7) Tom Ham’s Lighthouse
For a spectacular and fantastic seafood dinner with the harbor and city in the background head to Tom Ham’s Lighthouse! We love how close it is to the city, yet feeling like a world away. Be sure to book your perfect table ahead of time and we recommend coming for sunset here, it’s really romantic.
8) Coronado Sand Dunes Beach
If you are looking for a proposal after a day at the beach, and not to mention a great beach to swim at while in San Diego, look no further! Coronado Sand Dunes are just south of the main beach area.

9) Ocean Beach Pier
Whether you are on top of or below the pier you are going to find a beautiful spot to propose! We recommend coming during low tied because then you can wander around by the pilings below the pier and have beautiful moment here!
10) Spruce Street Suspension Bridge
This is a little hidden gem in the city that a lot of people don’t know about. We love how it’s surrounded by nature and thought it would be a fun place to surprise your significant other with a ring after you cross the bridge together!
Where to Stay
Carte Hotel San Diego
We stayed at the Carte Hotel in downtown San Diego and absolutely loved it! We really loved the hotel itself and all of the amenities it offered, like the pool, rooftop lounge and the huge 2 story gym here! We also liked that it was only a short walk to Little Italy from the hotel.
